Floral Friday Fotos: pink bottle brush flowers

This is a quick reminder that my 2015 nature photography calendars are now available for sale. Today I’m participating in Floral Friday Fotos. You can click on each photo for a larger view. If you enjoy my photos, I encourage you to subscribe and receive updates when I post new photos, usually 3 to 5 times a week.

I have shared pictures of red bottle brush flowers before but when I ran into several bottle brush trees that displayed pink flowers a few months ago, I couldn’t resist taking a lot of pictures. There were so many pink bottle brush flowers on the first bush I encountered, they almost looked like Christmas ornaments.

Can you count how many pink bottle brush flowers are in this picture? Would you believe there were even more before I cropped the picture? That is some happy tree.

Of course, bees are very fond of those bottle brush flowers, so it’s easy to take a picture of the blooms with bees on them.

You can easily understand from their unusual shape why these were named bottle brush blooms.

By the way, I took this set of pictures last August. I don’t want you to think that we’re getting that many blooms right now. Although, bottle brush bottles seem to have an erratic blooming schedule in San Diego, depending on the fluctuating temperatures. So you really never know what you may see.

I recently toll a stroll in San Diego’s Balboa Park and ended up in the rose garden, where the roses were displaying their bright and colorful blooms one last time before the cooler season. It had rained the night before (yes, I said rain, in San Diego!) so the rose petals were covered with raindrops.

I hope you enjoy these bright pink and red roses on this Friday, especially if you live in a place where the flowers have now disappeared for the next few months.

My 2015 nature photography calendars are available for sale

Well, I feel like I just crawled out from under a rock. A big, heavy rock. I have been spending the past several weeks studying for several exams that will open up some work opportunities, only now to wait for one more test result that’s not coming in in time for an important meeting tomorrow. Argh, life always has a way to let you know you’re not in charge, no matter how hard you try.

And of course, I’ve been working diligently on creating new photo calendars for 2015 and I’m proud to announce that my 2015 nature photography calendars are now available for sale. If you’re looking for a unique Thanksgiving or holiday gift to give a teacher, a friend, a colleague, or a family member, this is a great choice. All calendars are made to order in the USA so you support the US economy with your purchase, and a starving artist at the same time (me!).

While I’ve decided to keep the same five themes as last year, I’ve updated quite a lot of photos in each 2015 calendar and I hope you’ll enjoy them. Of course, Zazzle has made it very difficult for me to promote these 2015 calendars since their system continues to refuse displaying them in my online store, although I posted them for sale several weeks ago. Their tech support answer? “We’re aware of the problem but we can’t tell you when it will be fixed.” Which means, they won’t fix it. Well, thanks for nothing, Zazzle! I really wanted to create a couple more new calendars for this year, but I’ve been so frustrated with the process, I’ve run out of energy, haha!
