February 18, 2013: I discovered the flowers below don’t belong to the New Zealand Christmas tree but instead to the Powder Puff Tree. View more photos of powder puff trees, including white and pink flowers.
Today I’m taking part in Macro Monday at Lisa’s Chaos. This is my first time and I hope to participate every week if I have the photos to contribute.
For this macro theme, I’m featuring a couple of photos I took this weekend at the San Diego Zoo. The weather was mostly cloudy but it still made for some decent lighting to capture these close-up shots.
As always, you can click on each image to view it in a larger format. Enjoy!

Beautiful macro x
Thank you! It took a few shots to get the first photo right and I really like it.
Ooh, I feel another coaster image coming on… Those are great! Love the color, and you can almost feel the texture.
I think you’re right about the coaster! I really have to update my store with all the new photos I’ve been taking. And yes, the flowers are super soft. Probably a great tool to tickle someone! I just found out the tree is called a New Zealand Christmas tree so I can now update my post.
That’s a perfect name for it, I think. Much better than an Ohio Christmas Tree.
I’m sure an Ohio Christmas tree looks very pretty when it’s covered with fluffy white snow. 🙂
Wow, I love the colour and the shape of this flower.
I love it too and that’s why I had to take that photo.
