I’m participating in LetsBeWild.com’s Wild Weekly Photo Challenge. This week’s challenge is: Camouflage!
Most of the animal photos I take feature bright colors and the animals in full view. I could only find a couple of pictures that would fit this theme, but at least I really like them. 🙂
Here’s a little crab that I found on Coronado Beach at low tide. It seemed to be impatiently waiting for the tide to come back up. In the meantime, it was partially hiding in the sand. It was hiding so well that I almost stepped on it. I’m glad I didn’t, so I could take this picture after I dug him out a bit. He’s still nicely covered with that gold speckled sand.

This baby koala was sleeping in a tree at the new Outback exhibit at the San Diego Zoo a few weeks ago. The koala’s gray fur helps it camouflage among the branches and leaves. But you can still see this little guy’s cute face.

Lovely 🙂
Thank you!
Great pictures for that theme! With my luck, I’d step on the crab and get pinched. 🙂
Thank you! Well, that crab was little so I’m sure it wouldn’t have hurt too much. Although those pincers can’t feel too good on bare feet.
Love your little koala!
Thank you! He is quite cute. 🙂
Brilliant! With my dodgy eyesight I thought the first shot was a mouth shape in the sand till I got in close! And the koala is simply gorgeous. Lovely capture. 🙂
I saw tons of people walking right by that crab without noticing it. I unburied him a bit to take its picture, but it was hiding very well before then.
