Today I’m participating in Where’s My Backpack’s Travel Theme photo challenge. This week’s theme is “illuminated”. Remember you can click on each photo for a larger view. If you like what you see, feel free to subscribe and receive nature photography updates a few times a week.
I love how the morning sun illuminates the sky slowly through the trees behind my house. Sometimes the light can be yellow when the sky is covered with gray clouds.
Other times, the sun illuminates the whole sky at once, making the blue bolder than ever.
I love how the sun shines down on water and can brighten up a whole ocean.
I enjoy photographing the reflections of light on small water ripples, especially when they include colorful reflections of the surrounding bushes and trees. If you’ve ever seen liquid mercury, this water almost looks like it, doesn’t it? I have more photos of the ducks swimming in this pond and I hope to share them soon.
At night, artificial light can illuminate our dark surroundings to make them more friendly. I love Christmas lights and this is probably the brightest Christmas light display I saw this past holiday. Now, that’s illuminated!

Well, thank you! My five-year old took this picture with my phone a few months ago. He’s a lot better at taking pictures than letting me photograph him. 🙂

Oh, my, I just realized WordPress unfollowed your blog for me. I was wondering why I wasn’t seeing your posts in my reader any more. I’d see one on Facebook and wonder why I didn’t get an email alert. I hope I didn’t miss too many. I’ve refollowed you now. This has happened to me with a couple other blogs, too. I wonder how many there are that I don’t know about. Yikes.
Well, thank you, WordPress. I have no idea how it happens but I know it does. The worst is when you say you want to get daily notifications by email and you get them randomly, sometimes not for weeks at a time. Definitely some bugs in there. I did take some time off for the holidays but I’m back with several posts a week now.
I spent over an hour sorting through my reader this morning, trying to find out who else had been unfollowed for me without my knowledge. Good times…
Oh, I can imagine. A lot of people use the reader only but I choose the email notifications and unfortunately, those don’t work well all the time.
I get email notifications for a few blogs (like yours) for the days I don’t have time to open up my reader. That way I won’t miss my regulars. 🙂
