Today I’m taking part in Macro Monday at Lisa’s Chaos. I recently visited the San Diego Botanic Garden and got the opportunity to photograph a lot of blooms. Below are a couple of flowers I was able to capture on camera. The thing is, I have no idea what type of flowers they are, and they weren’t labeled. What can I say? I’m a photographer and clearly not an horticulturalist.
For each flower below, I’ll show you what the plant looks like, as well as a macro of the flower itself. If you know the name of these plants, please share your knowledge in the Comments section. Remember you can click on each photo for a larger view.
The first plant looks like a succulent but that’s how far I can go. That soft pink flower is very pretty.

The next flowers belong to some kind of shrub about six feet tall. There were a lot of bloom on that tree, here are just a few.

Here’s a close-up of one of the purple flowers. They don’t smell but they sure look nice.

What gorgeous colors. That pink one is great. I love how the color intensifies as it gets to the center of the flower. Not sure if that’s the flower itself or the effect of shadows, but it looks cool. 🙂
I do like that part too. And it’s not a question of shadow because that whole area was in the shade. I probably could have used some flash but I like the softness of the colors that way.
Gorgeous! The first one is a cactus, but I’m not familiar with the other one.
Thanks, I wasn’t sure if it was a cactus or a succulent. You’d think a botanic garden would label all the plants they display!
Fabulous pics, Milka. 🙂
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed them.
Wow, that pink one is my new favorite what-cha-ma-call-it cactus bloom. The purple ones are cool too. That would be so stunning on a bush 6 ft tall with all those blooms.
That bush full of purple booms was indeed beautiful!
