Today I’m participating in the A Word A Week Challenge. This week’s theme is “dawn”. With young kids, I never get to sleep in, so I often have an opportunity to see the dawn, especially in the winter months. I love listening to the sounds of nature at dawn, where the animals start waking up and the birds start chirping.
Here are a few of my favorite photos of dawn. Remember you can click on each photo for a larger view.

I’m lucky to see the sun rise behind trees and hills every morning. I love the soft glow of this winter sunrise. Such lovely dawn!

Of course, sometimes dawn wants to show up in all bright colors. What a cheerful entrance!

Do you have to leave your yard to take these shots, or is your view really that open and lovely?
I take these photos either from the upstairs window for a higher perspective, or right from my backyard if I want the trees in front of the rising sun. It does look just like that in real life. I honestly have a great view from my backyard for someone living in desert land San Diego. 🙂
I’m jealous. I’ll trade you for some scattered trees and the backs of other houses. Yes, that’s my view.
I have houses very close to me on three sides, so it’s the one side of the house that’s completely open. And yes, I feel very lucky with all the trees and the San Diego river right past my backyard. Of course, if I look a little bit to the right, I can see the bright Walmart storefront sign. 🙂
Haha. I haven’t noticed you posting any stunning photos of that. 😉
That’s because I’m still working on them. 😉
That third shot in your series of DAWN shots is quite nice. Beautiful colors captured. Lucky you.
Thank you, and bright colorful skies at dawn are a rare sight in San Diego. They mostly happen in the winter with a somewhat cloudy sky. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment.
