Christmas was just a few weeks ago and it was the opportunity to see many bright objects around town, including this cute polar bear and its Coca Cola bottle.

This is the largest Christmas tree in the world made out of large Lego bricks, at Legoland California. Pretty cool!

You can find man made objects when you go hiking in nature, like this wooden bridge.

You can find interesting objects in more crowded places too, such as this koala crossing sign at the San Diego Zoo.

Finally, I know I shared this last photo a few days ago but I thought it’d work great for this theme. This is a water puddle in the shape of the United States, with the reflection of a red truck’s front grill and the blue sky. A red, white a blue US map, right on the pavement.

I wish you and your loved ones a very merry Christmas, whether it’s a white Christmas, or a wet one, or a sunny one. A few nights ago I went to our town’s best Christmas light displays with my kids and took picture after picture as we enjoyed the show. With these images, I’m sending some Christmas cheer your way!

Winter in San Diego looks a little different from what you might expect in other parts of the Northern hemisphere. The days are mostly sunny but definitely cooler, and we can have very clear mornings, or a lot of fog.

We don’t get snow in town, but our mountain caps less than an hour away do get the white stuff. If we’re lucky we get some rain, which we desperately need. I took this photo of my car roof a few days ago. I loved how the clouds reflected on it among the rain drops but all I had to capture the sight was my cell phone camera. I’m still happy with the way it came out.

And if it’s cold enough, we get frost.

I’m working on a post about Christmas lights, but for this winter theme, I thought I’d preview one of my newest photos. Winter means Christmas and the joy of going to look at Christmas lights.

Here’s a recent view of downtown San Diego in the evening, where you can catch a glimpse of the lights shaped like a Christmas tree at Seaport Village. I took this photo from all the way across the San Diego bay, in Coronado.

Here’s the Christmas tree from closer. It was very hard to get a sharp photo from so far away.

In comparison, our Christmas tree at home is tiny. Six foot tall, it was decorated with a lot of zeal by my kids. Most of our presents are now under the tree, along with our elf on the shelf who wanted to take a closer look at the presents last night. Our pile of  presents will be complete on Christmas morning, after Santa makes a pit stop at our house.

This photo challenge reminds me I should grab my camera and take more photos of the Christmas lights in the neighborhood. Are you really for the holidays?
