Today I’m participating in the WordPress weekly photo challenge and this week’s theme is “one shot, two ways”. You can click on the photos below for a larger view. If you like what you see, feel free to subscribe and receive nature photography updates a few times a week.

When photographing a subject in nature, sometimes it’s hard to determine which angle or side looks best. So I often shoot it from a variety of angles and decide later on. I’m not always sure which photo I prefer in the end.

Here’s a beautiful orange rose shot from above.

I love seeing the color patterns on the petals but the side shot looks very nice too.

Even when I shoot from the side, I’m not always sure which side will look best, like with this lovely pink and yellow rose, with more yellow than rose on this first shot.

Finally this ornamental plum tree looks pretty from this angle, with its dark red leaves.

But when I photographed the plum tree from the other side, with the sun shining from the other side, the red leaves really ignited.

Here are a few more photographs of the water lilies at the lily pond in San Diego’s Balboa Park. You can see my previous photos of purple water lilies here.

Can you guess from the next photo that it rained that morning? Yes, rain in July in San Diego. Quite a sight.

I really like the reflection of the pink water lily into the dark water on this last picture.

I recently took more picture of water lilies at the San Diego’s Balboa Park pond, and this is the first time I’ve captured light purple water lilies among small and large lily pads.

I love photographing roses but they’re quite a challenge to capture in the right angle and the right light. I recently took a lot of photos of roses of many colors and most of them had water drops on them from the morning’s watering. Here is a mix of colors for your enjoyment!

I’m finally able to take a lot of photos this week and it’s taking me a while to delete the bad ones, and keep and edit the good ones. I’m capturing a nice mix of flora, fauna and landscapes and I’ll be sharing these photos as I clean them up.

Today I’ll like to share these giant dandelions in seed I spotted in a large meadow. They were the only dandelions around and measured a couple of inches wide. I was tempted to go out there and blow on them, but I wasn’t crazy about climbing over barbed wire and probably stepping on a few snakes hiding in the dry grass. I’m just glad the wind didn’t blow all these dandelions away so I could take a picture first.
