Before I start with this post, I’d like to ask for your feedback to help me organize my nature photography online store. If you were to buy a photo product, would you search by product type (e.g. print, canvas, mousepad, etc), or by photo theme (e.g. animals, flowers, skies, water, etc)? Which one makes more sense to you? I’d love to hear your thoughts so please feel free to comment below this post.

Going back to our Floral Friday Fotos theme, I found the loveliest pink lotus flower at San Diego’s Balboa Park a few weeks ago. This was the first decent shot I managed to get.

After a large tourist family left that side of the pond (it’s a very popular photo souvenir spot at Balboa Park for good reasons), I managed to photograph this pink lotus flower from a better angle. By the way, it was the ONLY pink (or any color) lotus flower in bloom in the whole pond.

Eventually I managed to get even closer and snap this photo. The sun was hiding behind a few clouds at the time, so it made for a softer light and I really like the results.

Have you ever seen pink lotus flowers in real life? There are not that easy to find around here. I got lucky last summer when I captured this white lotus flower. Happy Friday!

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to photograph my first cherry blossoms earlier this week at the San Diego Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park. This is prime season to enjoy the cherry blossoms in San Diego and I wanted to take advantage of them before they disappear for a whole year. I took a lot more photos than these few but I thought this would be a nice sample to start you with, using this Floral Friday theme. Happy Friday and happy first day of spring!

Here are a few more photographs of the water lilies at the lily pond in San Diego’s Balboa Park. You can see my previous photos of purple water lilies here.

Can you guess from the next photo that it rained that morning? Yes, rain in July in San Diego. Quite a sight.

I really like the reflection of the pink water lily into the dark water on this last picture.

Today I’m participating in Where’s My Backpack’s Travel Theme photo challenge. This week’s theme is “tilted”. Remember you can click on each photo for a larger view. If you like what you see, feel free to subscribe and receive nature photography updates a few times a week.

I took this photo of a monarch caterpillar last week in San Diego’s Balboa Park. I wish I could walk tilted up a tree like that.

How about this baby panda at the San Diego Zoo, who manages to hang on and take a nap on a tilted branch?

This orange dragonfly can stand still and a bit tilted while barely hanging on to a stick.

Finally, look at these two pine trees. One of them is slightly tilting and to touch the other, then tilting back the other way, as if the trees were kissing.

I recently took more picture of water lilies at the San Diego’s Balboa Park pond, and this is the first time I’ve captured light purple water lilies among small and large lily pads.

I was able to take photos of water lilies of various colors that day, so I hope to find the time to share more with you soon.
