Remember my 2014 nature photography calendars (choose between five different themes) are still available for sale. Look in the left sidebar on my website for the most up-to-date discount coupon code. All calendars are made to order in the USA so you support the US economy with your purchase, and a starving artist (me!). I also appreciate any referral through Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and of course your blog or website.
Today I’m participating in the WordPress weekly photo challenge and this week’s theme is “family”. Remember you can click on each photo for a larger view. If you like what you see, feel free to subscribe and receive nature photography updates a few times a week.
The first photo that came to mind for this family challenge is one I took recently at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. It features a new Lemur Walk exhibit where you can stand right next to the lemurs since there are no fences. The only thing is, lemurs love to nap for hours at a time so if you don’t get there early, you have no chance to enjoy a lemur walking by your side. There are five lemurs in this exhibit and when they nap, they seem to like it tight, so this is how they sleep together. My kids think this display of curly lemur tails should be called “a curl of lemurs”. I concur.

I don’t share photos of my kids online so here are some other families I selected for this theme. An elephant mom and her calf.

Two brother bears displaying some brotherly love.

Here’s a mother panda bear and her cub at the San Diego zoo.

And last but not least, a family of Russian nesting dolls, 10 in all. The smallest one is the size of a grain of rice.
