I’m participating in LetsBeWild.com’s Wild Weekly Photo Challenge. This week’s Challenge is: The Beach!

Well, how often does it happen that I participate in two photo challenges about the same theme? And how often does it happen that these challenges show up in the same week? So I want to apologize for those of you who already saw the photo below in my post about beaches a few days ago. I promise you I have some really nice photos to make up for it in tomorrow’s Macro Monday post.

These are photos from  Coronado Beach in a gallery format. You can click on any photo to open the slideshow. To view any photo in a larger format, just scroll down while in slideshow mode and click on “view full size” on the bottom right on the page. Enjoy!

Today I’m participating in the WordPress weekly photo challenge and this week’s theme is “escape”. You can click on any photo below to see it in a larger format.

There are many ways to escape but I think my favorite is through books. Nowhere else can you visit faraway lands and people, real or imaginary, at any moment in time. My latest escape? The Guardians of Childhood book series by William Joyce. Wonderful adventures!

Living in San Diego, there are many places I can escape to. The first one I think of is the beach.

I can also escape to the mountains.

I can escape to a magical fairyland by going up these stone steps.

Or escape deep into the beautiful details of nature.

Oh, and now that I got myself some new Pirelli tires, I can escape really fast. Zoom zoom!

This week’s Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge theme is the season of spring. Spring is my favorite season, especially in San Diego. I love witnessing the rebirth of nature and noticing all the beautiful colors popping up around town.

I’m using the gallery format to feature my photos of spring. You can click on any photo below to open the slideshow. To view any photo in a larger format, just scroll down while in slideshow mode and click on “view full size” on the bottom right on the page. Enjoy!

Travel theme: Beaches

Today I’m participating in Where’s My Backpack’s Travel Theme photo challenge. This week’s theme is “beaches”. Living in San Diego, it’s easy for me to get to the beach, yet I don’t do it very often. I love the fresh air and the wind, the smell of the ocean. I can’t stand the sand in my shoes and driving around for a parking spot. You can’t have it all!

I featured most of the photos below on my site before but I thought it’d be nice to put them together in a single post on beaches, in this case Coronado Beach. I’m using the gallery format for this today. Click on any photo to open the slideshow. Macro Monday: Raindrops on yellow roses

Today I’m taking part in Macro Monday at Lisa’s Chaos. Remember you can click on each image to see it in a larger format.

Last week, it rained. For two days. On and off, but mostly on. You may think rain isn’t a big deal, but when you live in San Diego, rain in May is a rare occurrence. It will probably be the last rain we get until next November so I tried to enjoy every raindrop, even though I hate walking or driving in the rain.

After the rain stopped, I took a few photos of the leftover raindrops on yellow roses. It’s amazing how such big raindrops can remain attached to the rose petals, defying gravity.

I love the patterns these raindrops form on each rose petal.

This is the same yellow rose as above, but photographed from a different angle. It’s interesting to see how the raindrops reflect the light and surroundings differently.
