Today I’m featuring close-ups of the morning dew on blades of grass. Here are a couple of shots I really like, as they show both tiny droplets and one much bigger one in the middle of them. You can click on each image for a larger view.
I love how well you can see the reflection of several blades of grass in that one big drop of water.
Macro Monday: The beauty of the morning dew on grass
I never noticed how fuzzy grass blades can be. The dew makes the fuzz stand up pretty clearly.

Today I’m taking part in Macro Monday at Lisa’s Chaos. With the good amount of rain we had these past couple of weeks, along with the many work and personal matters I had to handle, I haven’t found many opportunities to grab my camera and snap some new photos. Fortunately, this gives me some time to go back and look at all the photos I’ve taken in the past few months and display them on my website.
Here are a couple of photos of small pink flowers that look very pretty in close-up mode. I believe these are manuka flowers, from New Zealand. Remember you can click on each image for a larger view.

If you live where spring is taking its sweet time to show up, I hope this gives you a little taste of what it will look like when it gets there.

Today I’m taking part in Macro Monday at Lisa’s Chaos. I decided to feature raindrops on leaves because we’ve have a lot of rain these past couple of weeks. They’re probably the last rainstorms we’ll get before late next fall, so I may as well embrace them.
Here are a few photos of raindrops on a rose tree with small leaves. I think I displayed one of these photos in a previous post, but I wanted to share a few more. Perfect for Macro Monday! Remember you can click on each photo to see it in a larger format.
This is probably my favorite photo. I love how the raindrops seem to line up on the edges of the leaves, with some larger drops to balance out the many tiny drops.
Macro Monday: Raindrops on leaves
I took this photo the same day. It shows some of the same leaves but from another angle and with some other leaves below them.

Below is the same rose tree but after a different rainstorm, and different leaves. I love how the raindrops reflect so many things.

Today I’m taking part in Macro Monday at Lisa’s Chaos. I recently visited the San Diego Botanic Garden and got the opportunity to photograph a lot of blooms. Below are a couple of flowers I was able to capture on camera. The thing is, I have no idea what type of flowers they are, and they weren’t labeled. What can I say? I’m a photographer and clearly not an horticulturalist.
For each flower below, I’ll show you what the plant looks like, as well as a macro of the flower itself. If you know the name of these plants, please share your knowledge in the Comments section. Remember you can click on each photo for a larger view.
The first plant looks like a succulent but that’s how far I can go. That soft pink flower is very pretty.

The next flowers belong to some kind of shrub about six feet tall. There were a lot of bloom on that tree, here are just a few.
Macro Monday: Tree with purple blooms
Here’s a close-up of one of the purple flowers. They don’t smell but they sure look nice.

Today I’m taking part in Macro Monday at Lisa’s Chaos. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love taking photos of flowers and plants, but I’m terrible at identifying what they are. I recently featured some beautiful pink and fuzzy flowers but I had no idea what they were at first. When I posted the photo on my Facebook page, someone kindly told me the flowers belonged to the New Zealand Christmas Tree. After googling that tree, I was pretty convinced and so I wrote my post around this specific tree.
Now, here’s the catch. I visited the San Diego Botanic Garden this weekend and I saw fuzzy flowers that looked just like the pink ones but they were white. So I looked at the tree label and it said… White powder puff – Calliandra Haematocephala. Ha!
Powder puff tree – calliandra haematocephala
The powder puff tree – Calliandra Haematocephala – can feature fuzzy flowers that are either pink or white depending on its variety. The powder puff shaped flowers are beautiful in either color, so for this Macro Monday post, I’m featuring both colors for your enjoyment.
Remember you can click on each photo below for a larger view.

The berries you see on the photo are not edible. They actually are the flower buds before they bloom. Aren’t these blooms pretty?
