I’m participating in the online adventure travel and photography magazine LetsBeWild.com’s Wild Weekly Photo Challenge for bloggers. This week’s Challenge is: Unusual.

What a tough challenge! And so I’ve decided to pick a few photos where there may be more than meets the eye.

This first photo is very seasonal. If you’ve ever wondered what Rudolph the red nosed reindeer looks like when he lands on the roof, here’s your answer.

Now here’s a less obvious face in the rocks. I see a man’s profile (looking left) in the rock. On his right, I see the profile of a dog’s head looking left too. Can you see it? Now, that’s unusual!

WordPress weekly photo challenge: My 2012 in pictures

It’s been quite an eventful year for me but besides the bad and the ugly, lots of good things have happened, including the launch of this photography website, and the launch of my online Zazzle store to sell photo products.

I took a lot of great photos this year and I displayed some of them on this site. I still have quite a number of photos to go through on my various SD cards but are several of my favorite photos for 2012. There’s nothing more delicate than life. Life of a person, life of an animal, life of a plant. Life comes and goes, sometimes unexpectedly. It’s been a tragic week for America, especially so close to Christmas. Children are the most delicate kind of human beings, and yet they can be so resilient.

I’ll stick to photos of nature today to illustrate the WordPress weekly photo challenge theme, delicate. Make sure you click on each image if you’d like to see a larger version of it.

I recently took photos of raindrops on spider webs on two separate occasions. One-finger touch and both the spider web and the raindrops can be gone. You can view more of these spider webs here.

And here are a few photos of flowers, which are a very delicate part of nature. I have no idea what this flower is called but I love the fuzziness all over its petals.

The flower below might be a hibiscus but I’m not sure (I’m terrible at flower names). I just love the pollen on top of the stigma, and the delicate petals and their delicate color.

WordPress weekly photo challenge: Reflections

When you’re taking pictures, reflections can be a good thing or a bad thing. Sometimes you don’t realize you caught a bad reflection (often yourself) until you open the photo file on your computer. Other times you’re lucky and you end up with great pictures.

Here are a few of my photos to illustrate the WordPress weekly photo challenge theme of “reflections”. Remember you can click on each image for a larger view.

These are lilypads I photographed at Balboa Park in San Diego this past summer. You can see gorgeous close-ups of these water lilies in this post. Still water is a great medium for reflections and you can’t go wrong.

Here is a soap bubble on artificial grass. I took this picture because although it’s not the most beautiful photo out there,I think the many reflections on the bubble (the sky, the house, the grass, and me somewhere in there) and its transparent nature give it a mesmerizing effect. What do you think?

Here’s a photo of a little rain left over on a begonia leaf. If you look closely (you can click on the photo to see a larger image), you can see the bars of a metal fence are reflected in the water. Because of the shape of the leaf, the bars are not straight but curved, as if they were embracing the flower inside the leaf. They almost look like a flower stem too. Pretty neat!

Let’s Be Wild Weekly Photo Challenge – Water

I’m participating in the LetsBeWild.com Wild Weekly Photo Challenge. This week’s Challenge is: Water.

Water can be photographed in so many ways. It can be spread out over an ocean’s length or be contained in a single drop. It can look blue, green, gray, transparent, or reflect what’s around.

My favorite form of water to photograph is water drops, so all the photos below feature water drops for this week’s photo challenge. You may have seen a few of them or none of them on this website already. There are a couple of new ones too.

I shared these raindrops on a spider web over river rocks last week, and I think they fit this theme perfectly.

I took these last two pictures after the rain we had last week in San Diego. I love how tiny droplets outline the leaves and the bougainvillea flower. It almost looks like tiny, shiny diamonds.
