Today I’m participating in the A Word A Week Challenge. This week’s theme is “lines”.  I encourage you to click on each photo to see a larger view. If you like what you see, please subscribe to this blog to receive updates of the new photos I post, usually 3 to 5 times a week.

For this “line” photo theme, I decided to use a few random photos I took recently, displaying the various aspects of fall in San Diego. I love the fall foliage of the sycamore tree captured in the right light. You can clearly see the lines running through every leaf of the tree.

The warm weather here means we get a lot of blooms in the fall, like this purple bougainvillea. Bougainvillea trees always seem to grow new branches at random heights and directions, creating a disorganized web of lines.

Finally, check out the many, many lines of this pink powder puff bloom. Can you guess how many lines that would be?

With the year-round blooms we get in San Diego, bees are busy every day. We’re lucky to enjoy colorful flower and tree blooms even when winter is approaching, which helps me greatly since it means I can take new photos every week.

Here are a few busy bees on a pink powder puff flower. The many bees on that tree weren’t happy to have me so close to them, so I had to give up after a few minutes, but I managed to get a few decent shots before I left.

I enjoy the many layers of petals on a rose, especially when the petals themselves are layered with dew drops or raindrops.

I love asters because they seem so easy to grow and maintain, they just pop up in every public place. And what’s not to like about them? They’re not too big, not to small, and very colorful. To me, a bed of asters is always shouting, we’re happy today and you should be too!

Asters come in a variety of colors but my favorite is purple. Here’s a dark purple aster flower, followed by a light purple aster. Both flowers show leftover raindrops on their petals from the morning’s watering, a lovely touch left for me to capture on camera.
