Pink is one of my favorite color and I’ve been able to photograph it quite a lot these past few days. Here a splash of pink for you!
I love bright pink waterlilies.

Nature can display faces in so many ways and places. There’s the cute face of the mama panda bear.

And the face of a woman that Mother Nature drew in this tree trunk for us to notice.

Mother Nature also likes to use rocks to make faces.

These hidden faces of a man and a dog (profile angle) are some of my favorite faces to spot in nature. Can you see them?

And finally even the sky can show you faces, like this smiley face in the clouds!

Orange is far from being my favorite color but I love how nature displays it boldly. My favorite display has to be this orange dragonfly I captured a few weeks ago. It was a lucky shot for sure. You can see my photo of a blue dragonfly here.

I tried to use the very cloudy sky as a background for the next photo. I kind of like the effect, although I bet this rose would be absolutely beautiful on a blue background since the two colors are opposite on the color wheel.

And here’s a last large burst of orange roses for you!

This next rose is more subtle and displays a mix of orange, yellow and light pink. I love this type of tea roses and they usually smell very good.

Of course, roses are not the only flowers that are orange. Here are a few more orange flowers I’ve photographed in the past, like this beautiful orange protea pincushion.

I’m not sure what the next flower is called but I love its big fuzzy petals.

I like the orange leaves of fall foliage. We don’t get a lot of that in San Diego, so it’s nice to spot it here and there.

Of course, I can’t participate in an orange theme without displaying an orange, can I? Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

Today I’m participating in the A Word A Week Challenge. This week’s theme is “dawn”. With young kids, I never get to sleep in, so I often have an opportunity to see the dawn, especially in the winter months. I love listening to the sounds of nature at dawn, where the animals start waking up and the birds start chirping.
Here are a few of my favorite photos of dawn. Remember you can click on each photo for a larger view.

I’m lucky to see the sun rise behind trees and hills every morning. I love the soft glow of this winter sunrise. Such lovely dawn!

Of course, sometimes dawn wants to show up in all bright colors. What a cheerful entrance!

Today I’m participating in the A Word A Week Challenge. This week’s theme is “zoom”. I thought I’d take this opportunity to feature a few animals I took photos of recently. I used the zoom for each snapshot since I wasn’t close enough.
Remember you can click on each photo below for a larger view.
I took the first photo at the San Diego Zoo a few weeks ago. These are two brother grizzly bears enjoying a sweet moment with one another. The white on the photo is some snow the zoo made for them that day.

One of the bears then smelled some popcorn someone was eating in front of the exhibit, so he came closer and started charming us with cute faces and poses, hoping we’d throw some of that delicious food to him. Poor guy…

During that visit at the San Diego Zoo, we decided to visit the new baby panda and her mom. Here’s mama panda bear, snacking on bamboo shoots.

I took the next photo on a warm, sunny day. This little lizard was trying to get my attention by doing cute lizard push-ups. I wasn’t too impressed.

I took the last picture for this zoom challenge at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. This cheetah was laying down quietly, waiting for lunch to be served. When it heard the zookeeper behind the scenes, it started meowing, just like a cat (OK, a big cat). It was a great moment to witness, but today all I can share with you is the visual part. 🙂
