This week’s Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge theme is “the color of your choice – pick one color”. I thought of picking blue, then purple, then yellow, then red, but finally I settled on pink. Why? Because I’m a girl and I like pink. And living with two boys, I live life without pink, except for the clothes in my closet. Pink can be soft or bold, in your face or more subtle. Either way, you can’t go wrong with pink.

So here’s a splash of pink for you in slideshow format. You can click on any picture to view all of them in a larger format.

What’s your favorite color?

Macro Monday: the flowers with no name

Today I’m taking part in Macro Monday at Lisa’s Chaos. I recently visited the San Diego Botanic Garden and got the opportunity to photograph a lot of blooms. Below are a couple of flowers I was able to capture on camera. The thing is, I have no idea what type of flowers they are, and they weren’t labeled. What can I say? I’m a photographer and clearly not an horticulturalist.

For each flower below, I’ll show you what the plant looks like, as well as a macro of the flower itself. If you know the name of these plants, please share your knowledge in the Comments section. Remember you can click on each photo for a larger view.

The first plant looks like a succulent but that’s how far I can go. That soft pink flower is very pretty.

The next flowers belong to some kind of shrub about six feet tall. There were a lot of bloom on that tree, here are just a few.

Here’s a close-up of one of the purple flowers. They don’t smell but they sure look nice.

Today I’m participating in the WordPress weekly photo challenge. This week’s theme is “lost in the details”. WordPress is asking photographers to capture details in their frames.

For this post, I’ll use some photos I’ve featured in other posts that show great detail. I’ll also use a few new photos I haven’t featured on this website yet.

If you like what you see, please don’t hesitate to subscribe to my photo blog and/or like my Facebook page. Remember you can click on any of the photos below to view them in a larger format.

Below is one of my newest favorite photos I took recently. It shows some leftover raindrops on new rose bush leaves. I love the various sizes of raindrops and how they catch the light.

San Diego’s Balboa Park recently featured a large display of ornamental pear blossoms. They looks beautiful as a whole, but I think they’re even prettier up close, when you can see the details of each flower. You can see more ornamental pear blossoms here.

I love the details of the petals on this white powder puff tree flower. You can see more white powder puff flowers here and some pink powder puff tree flowers here.

The next photo also shows a lot of details, not just of the cactus flowers, but of the bee itself. I love its fuzzy back.

The last photo is a close-up of a spider web made by grass spiders. I love the details of the dew drops on the spider web, which would look quite messy otherwise. You can view more dew on spiderwebs here.

This week’s Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge theme is rainbow colors. Photos must display at least four strong colors.

Well, this is quite a challenge for me because I like to keep my photos as simple as possible, with the least distraction. Most often, a large amount of colors can make a photo look busy. I think I managed to find a few photos that fit this theme well. Let me know what you think.

I love California wildflowers and I can’t wait to see them pop up everywhere in the spring. Here’s yellow, red, purple, pink and green.

The sumac tree can display very colorful foliage in the fall. Here’s some yellow, orange, red, green and blue.

This week’s Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge theme is the colors of red, white, or red and white together. How about some hibiscus to illustrate this colorful theme?

Remember you can click on each image below for a larger view.  Here’s a beautiful red hibiscus flower to start with.

A white hibiscus flower is just as pretty, believe it or not. It even has a little pinkish red on it.

There’s also the beautiful ornamental pear blossoms of San Diego’s Balboa Park. They don’t smell good but they sure are pretty!

Now, if you’re looking for red and white on a single picture, take a peek at my budding strawberries. Amid the green and red leaves, you can find a few white strawberry blossoms.
